On reflection of the short films screening in last fridays lecture i've had a lot to think about, the range of diversity within the short films was great, there were a range of different shorts from documentaries to drama, bit of everything really, taken from the last 20 years or so. it was great to see how far technology has came on and the techniques that are available to use today, that simply weren't around 20 years ago. In todays fast paced society anyone can pick up camera and produce a film that would have taken a hollywood budget to produce if it had been made 20 or 30 years earlier.

From the two short films that we we asked to write about 'Steel homes' and 'love me or leave me alone' i much preferred the latter. there were many reasons for this, firstly i thought that 'love me or leave me alone' was a lot grittier than 'Steel homes' although in 'Steel homes' defence that is a tad harsh considering that, it is a documentary and 'love me or leave me alone' is a drama. The entire concept of the short was both current and interesting for the viewer unlike 'Steel homes'. I often found myself drifting off and losing interest in 'Steel homes' which is only a ten minute film, so that statement alone says a lot about the short in my personal opinion. The rawness of 'love me or leave me alone' was refreshing and had a similar feel to it of "Skins" or "shameless".

Overall i thought that 'love me or leave me alone' probably appealed to me more because its based at my demographic, whereas 'Steel homes' is more likely to appeal to the older generation as it focuses on people talking about items bringing back memories of happier or sadder times and the older generation would relate to this. Personally 'love me or leave me alone' inspired me more in to produce something of the same genre as apposed to creating a documentary like 'Steel homes'.
